Sounds Like Fun: Seeing Animal Sounds by National Center for Technological Literacy
In the curriculum, students explore and discuss acoustical engineering, including the roles of acoustical engineers in aiding scientific research and representing sounds. Students learn that acoustical engineers work on many different types of projects, such as damping sound or designing systems record, interpret and communicate sounds. Hands-on activities, discussions, and readings focus on acoustical engineering and the Engineering Design Process to introduce engineering concepts at a level appropriate for elementary students. In addition, this unit fits well with the study of Ghanaian culture and drumming, as well as the geography of Africa.
